Fort Welikit Family Campground & RV Park is a newer addition to the Customer, SD area. The 100 sites have something for everyone. It may not offer the same amenities as the nearby Sturgis RV parks, but it does provide many of the same amenities you'd find at a quality campground. Its excellent location is a major plus. This is the best place to find a place to rest while you visit the Black Hills.
The Fort Welikit Family Campground and RV Park can be found on the scenic Norbeck Highway. This area is filled with great attractions. It is a popular area for anyone who wants to go skiing, fishing or just enjoy the outdoors. The nearby town of Hot Springs is home to the famous Mammoth Site, which has yielded interesting information about the Pleistocene period. Hot Springs' Wind Cave is the only cave offering tours.
In addition to its numerous tent sites, the campground also boasts a dog park and a small playground. There is also a grass volleyball court. A shelter is also available at the campground. An overhead showerhouse is also available.
The campground has a number of amenities, including a dog park, a laundry facility, and a dump station. There is also free Wi-Fi available at the campground. The Wi-Fi may not be the best but it will keep you connected when you are on the road. However, not all channels may work.
The best thing about this park? It's located near some of the region's most fascinating attractions like Crazy Horse, Badger Clark, Jewel Cave and Badger Clark. You can also visit the Custer main street within a mile from the campground. If you don't want to drive, the Crazy Horse bus leaves from the park approximately every half-hour.
Fort Welikit Family Campground received a South Dakota Department of Tourism "Great Service Star". This award recognizes campgrounds that provide exceptional service and offer a wide range of amenities. These include a fully fenced dog park and a picnic table. It's also a great place to go for hiking or biking.
During the summer, the park also hosts an annual event, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. This is a great place to stop if you're visiting the area for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The campground also makes an excellent basecamp for your adventures. You don't have to ride big bikes. There are plenty of hiking trails nearby and you can play the links at Black Bear Golf Course. It is also popular during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. You may want to reserve your spot quickly.
