San Gorgonio Campground is a peaceful mountain area in the San Bernardino National Forest. It's located only 36 miles northeast from San Bernardino, close to Jenks Lake and the Santa Ana River. There are many recreational activities at this campground.

Hiking is the primary activity of the park. There are several trails available to hike, including the Rio Monte Panorama. Rio Monte Panorama, a gorge with sweeping views of the Santa Ana River Valley is the Rio Monte Panorama. This loop measures approximately two-and-a-half miles in length and is part the Jenks Lake Trail.

There are several small mountain lakes close to the campground. Angelus Oaks can be found near Jenks Lake and Big Bear Lake. These lakes are home to largemouth bass, rainbow trout and bluegill. The area is home to some poisonous snakes. Make sure you read all the campground rules if you have pets.

The restrooms at the campground are centrally located. There are flush toilets and showers available. Picnic tables can also be rented at the park. Renting a tent is an option if you need a spot to set up camp. Most campsites are level, but there are some that can accommodate RVs up to 55 feet. There are also back in sites.

The price of an RV rental will vary depending upon the RV type and distance to the campground. The average cost for a three-day motorhome rental is $880. Renting an RV is a good idea. Make sure you factor in additional mileage charges and the delivery fee. You might also consider driving insurance, depending on what you need. You will require a minimum level of state-mandated liability coverage.


It is a good idea to book ahead if you plan to visit the San Gorgonio Family Campground. This is especially true for those who plan to visit the campground on holiday weekends. There is a two-day minimum stay during the weekends. You can reserve up to six weeks in advance.

Some amenities at the San Gorgonio campground are warm showers, flush toilets, and drinkable water. There are several campfire activities offered during the summer weekends.

The park's primary activity is wildlife viewing and hiking. Many nearby campgrounds have trails and access. Only a few minutes from Jenks Lake or Big Bear Lake is the park. The campground is also crossed by the Rim of World Scenic Byway. There are two loops in the San Gorgonio campground. The western loop gives more privacy between campsites.

The campground allows pets. You may want to verify the park’s pet policies before you make a reservation. There are some restrictions. Also, make sure to check with your landlord to see if you are allowed to have more than one dog in your unit.

The campsites can be found in an oak or pine forest. Some campsites have shade. But remember, the sun will always be out during summer. You should always wear sunscreen, a hat, as well as a helmet if you bike.
